Jean Louise Harner, 85

Jean Louise Harner, 85, of Montoursville, passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2025, surrounded by family. Born August 11, 1939, in Williamsport.

Jean was the daughter of Isabel Bailey and Albert Santalucia. On July 3, 1959, Jean married C. Douglas Harner, Jr. They celebrated over 65 years of marriage.

Jean was employed by Carey McFalls/Springs Window Fashions for 40+ years. She spent many years volunteering for Mother’s Time Out at the Faith United Methodist Church in Montoursville, where she was a long-time member. Jean had a passion for reading, quilting and babies. She loved running, tap dancing and any other exercise fads. She loved learning new things; a few fun accomplishments include having a poem published and being in the Guinness Book of World Records. Jean was a member of the Roser Craft Club. Jean and Doug loved traveling and enjoyed many fun trips with their good friends, Janet and Ted.

Jean is survived by her husband and their three children, Joseph Harner (Lori) of Montoursville, Dede (Curt Metzger) of Muncy, Toni (Jason Troxell) of S Williamsport. Her sister, Joyce Sunderland and Susan LaRoche (Michael), sisters-in-law Joyce Clees, Mary Calehuff (Dennis), Toot Harner and Lois Santalucia.

Jean loved her family; her husband and children, her Grammy Bailey and many aunts, her siblings and siblings-in-law. She had a special place in her heart for all her nieces and nephews but it was her 6 grandchildren: Joshua Smith, Danielle Watson, Alex Taylor, Joseph Harner, Katy Taylor and Jenna Clark that were the icing on the cake, and her great grandchildren, Gwendolyn, Rayna, Ronald, Ethan, Trevor, Adalynn, Sylvie Jean and Theodora that were the sparkling candles on top.

Jean was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Louie and Tony Santalucia, brothers-in-law Dick Harner and Fred Clees and great granddaughter Theodora Harner.

A service celebrating Jean’s life will be held at Faith United Methodist Church, 700

Fairview Drive, Montoursville on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 11 a.m. There will be a lunch served immediately following the service in the church café.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation be made to a charity that benefits children in memory of Jean.

Arrangements have been entrusted to McCarty Thomas Funeral Home, Montoursville.
