James F. Dawes, 77, of Syracuse, NY died Friday, January 17, 2020 at Crouse Hospital.
Born June 14, 1942 in Williamsport, PA, he was a son of the late James A. and Rowena Baney Dawes.
James was a graduate of Williamsport High School. He owned and operated his own dairy farm for 20 years and retired as an associate from Sears.
James was a member of Belleville Methodist Church in Belleville, NY and former member of State Road United Methodist in Linden, PA. He enjoyed hunting, trains and storytelling.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years Carol V. (Mahaffey) Dawes; children, Cynthia VanCoughnett of Adams Center, NY, Yvonne Shaw of DeWitt, NY, Stephen Dawes of Charlotte, NC, and Rebecca MacCaull of Fayetteville, NY; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his father and mother in law, William and Sarah Mahaffey.
A service to honor the life of James will be held Saturday January 25th at 11:00 a.m. at State Road United Methodist Church, 6738 Daughertys Run Road, Linden, PA 17744. Interment will be in State Road Cemetery.
