James E. Kraft, 79, of Montgomery, Pa. died Saturday, April 13, 2024, at The Gatehouse at Divine Providence.
Born February 23, 1945, in Harrisburg, Pa., he was a son of the late Walter C., Sr. and Gertrude E. (McGarvey) Kraft. Throughout his younger years, he attended the John Harris High School in Harrisburg. James served his country with the United States Navy. He and his wife, Susan J. (LaForme) Kraft of Montgomery, shared a wonderful 16 years of life together having been married on May 19, 2007. James was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed following politics and playing computer games in his “doghouse.” He was also a highly active sportsman hunting and fishing and growing his variety of roses around the house. He was employed in the receiving department at Lowe’s for many years until his retirement.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Susan, three step-children: Jennifer (Roger, Jr.) Glidewell of Benton, Tiffany (Mark) Nunn of Montgomery, and Dale (Billie Brown) Derrick, Jr. of Unityville; ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and three siblings: Delores J. Heck of Las Vegas, NV, Nancy L. Andrus, of Harrisburg, and Walter C. Kraft, Jr. also of Harrisburg.
James was preceded in death by three sisters: Patricia A. Wolf, Mary M. Winter, and Carolyn M. Schell and step-son, David W. Derrick.
Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 19, 2024, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, Hughesville, 557 E. Water St. Hughesville, Pennsylvania, with Pastor Martin Coffey, officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery . Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
