Harriet Joan Harman, 92

Harriet Joan Harman, 92, formerly of Muncy, died Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at SpiriTrust Lutheran Home, York, where she resided for a short time.

Born December 6, 1929 in Muncy, she was the daughter of the late James A. and Ethel C. (Taggart) Hitesman. On Mar. 17, 1951 she married Maurice L. “Jeff” Harman, who preceded her in death Oct. 26, 2006. Together they celebrated 55 years of marriage.

Joan was a graduate of Muncy High School and the former Susan Wheaton School of Business. She spent most of her days raising and caring for her family. Joan volunteered for over 15 years at the PA Department of Health, Well Baby Clinic and served on the advisory board for the Tioga County Children’s Services.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Muncy and a former member of the Blossburg United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir.

Joan was fond of gardening and playing BINGO. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.

Surviving are four children and their spouses, James Harman and Kristina Ryhn, of Seattle, WA, Ellen and Donald Tietbohl, of York, Daniel and Anne Harman, of Blossburg and Mark and Julie Harman, of East Berlin; and eight grandchildren, Gregory Harman, Sarah Tietbohl, Seth Tietbohl, Michael Harman, Daniel Harman, Caitlyn Laughman, Jeffrey Harman and Curtis Harman.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother during WWII, James Hitesman.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to noon Friday, Sep. 2, at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, where the funeral will be held at noon, with her pastor, the Rev. Richard Robinson, officiating.

Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in the Muncy Cemetery.
