Gloria Lorraine Heckman, 83, of Nisbet, died Friday, November 29, 2024 at home surrounded by her family.

Born on May 8, 1941 in Williamsport, PA she was the daughter of the late Vyrl Smith and Emma Jane (Nittinger) Smith. On December 21,1985 she married Donald L. Heckman, who survives. Together they celebrated 39 years of marriage.

Gloria was employed by Frito Lay as a packer for 20 years. She enjoyed spending winters in Florida where she developed a close knit group of friends whom she considered family. Her love for Flamingos and Tweety Bird was known by all. She also enjoyed trips to the casino with her friend Ruby Ward while in Florida and her friend Eileen Lehman when back home in Pennsylvania.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents as well as her grandson John (Jon Jon) Walker. She is survived by her husband, Don; three children John Hurley III of West Melbourne FL, Michelle (Roger) Rinehart of Salladasburg PA, and Dianna Hurley of South Williamsport PA; two step children Hal (Cheryl) Heckman and Scott Heckman; grandchildren Jodie (Cory Winder) Walker, Jamie (Jordan) Brininger, Roger (Lissette) Rinehart, Kyle (Carolyn) Heckman, and Summer Heckman; great-grandchildren Shane Gardner, Ariana Scheurer, Vayda Winder, Bryce Winder, Alana Rinehart, Aidan Rinehart, Carina Rinehart, Roinn Heckman, and by her beloved dogs Emma and Lucy.

The family would like to express gratitude to Hospice at UPMC, Williamsport for their warm, professional care during Gloria’s transition.

In keeping with Gloria’s wishes, a private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in memory of Gloria.
