George M. Holmes, 77, of Montoursville, died Feb. 14, 2019, at UPMC Susquehanna Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
He was born on June 4, 1941, in Van Port, a son of the late Ralph P. Sr, and Ruby (Hill) Holmes.
Surviving are Margaret Holmes, a son, Butch Holmes; two daughters, Terry (Ryan) Andersen, and Kristine Haefner; two brothers, James and Ralph Holmes; a sister, Evelyn Neiderer; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
George graduated from Montoursville class of 1959, and retired from Carole Hochman Designs. He was a dedicated volunteer for the Lycoming County Genealogical Society, and assisted with the research and publication of the “Lycoming League” newsletter. He assisted at the Muncy Historical Society which led to his induction into the Tiadaghton Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, in 2012, where he served as Treasurer.
A viewing for family and friends will be held 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad Street, Montoursville. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
