Frederick S. Hanley, 95

Frederick S. Hanley, 95, a resident of Montgomery, PA, went to his heavenly home and is now at peace on Saturday, June 16, 2018 in the UPMC Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at Muncy Valley Hospital. Born Tuesday, January 9, 1923 at Williamsport, Lycoming County, PA he was a son of the late Andrew and Rhea (Smith) Hanley. He was the husband of Eleanor L. (Kashner) Brecht Hanley with whom he celebrated a 28th wedding anniversary on October 29, 2017.

Fred honorably served his country with the US Marine Corp during World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre.

He was retired from Darling Valve Co. at Williamsport where he was employed for over 34 years. Fred also provided transportation for the Amish community.

He was a member of St. John United Methodist Church at Elimsport and the Watsontown American Legion. Fred enjoyed hunting, fishing, attending the Little League World Series, going on bus trips with the Ridge Runners and attending yard sales.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by five step-children, Harold and wife Kay Brecht of Catawissa, PA; Martha and husband Larry Kitchen of Bloomsburg, PA; Marvin Brecht of Danville, PA; Nancy and husband Wayne Stahl of Lewisburg, PA; Ann Brecht of Danville, PA; four siblings, H. Blair Hanley of Berwick, PA; Philip E. Hanley of Fort Plain, NY; Anna M. Ulman of North Scituate, RI; Susan E. Weller of Montgomery, PA; nine step-grandchildren; 20 step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Fred was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Jean Hanley in 1988 and two brothers, Harold Raymond Hanley and James F. Hanley.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 from the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 N. Main Street, Muncy with Michael Hill, his pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Green Lawn Memorial Park. Graveside military honors will be accorded by the joint veterans organizations. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. or on Wednesday from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. The family will provide the flowers.
