Evelyn R. McGill, 98, of Lock Haven, passed away at her home Saturday, September 6, 2025.

Born January 23, 1927 in Centre Hall, she was the daughter of the late James and Ida Mae Rearick Royer.

Evelyn was married to Malcolm Jay McGill, who preceded her in death in February of 1978.

She obtained her teaching degree from Lock Haven State Teachers College and worked as a teacher and teacher’s aid at various school districts.

Evelyn was a member of Dunnstown United Methodist Church. She had beautiful handwriting and loved to send letters and cards to friends and relatives. She enjoyed gardening, jigsaw puzzles, ice cream and reading, especially Erma Bombeck novels. Most of all, she found her greatest joy in caring for and spending time with her family.

She is survived by two sons, Steven L. McGill of Lock Haven and Tim (Sally) McGill of Beech Creek; a sister, Frances Houtz of Madisonburg; six grandchildren: Michael McGill, Melissa (Jason) Hunter, Jon (Melissa) McGill, Erin (Colby) Welshans, Sam (Jordan) McGill and Ethan (Madison Peters) McGill; and six great-grandchildren: Cloe Hunter, Warrior McGill, Collins and Parker Welshans, and Easton and Millie McGill.

Private services will be held at the convenience of her family with private interment to take place at Dunnstown Cemetery, Lock Haven.
