Esther L. Taylor, 98

Esther L. Taylor, 98, of Loyalsock Township, passed away December 28, 2022 at We Care at Loyalsock.

She was born Sept. 18, 1924, in Shawville, a daughter of the late Paul and Grace (Shaw) Mayhew.

She was the loving wife of the late Rev. Stratford C. Taylor. She was the last of her generation being preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Avanelle Lawhead, Eva Barger, and Hazel Kennard; three brothers, Earl Mayhew, Clyde Mayhew, and Ralph Mayhew; four nephews and two nieces.

She is survived by seven nieces and eight nephews.

Following graduation, she worked as a secretary in Washington D.C. at the Pentagon and later at the patent office.

She married her husband to be, a neighbor and high school sweetheart, Stratford C. Taylor. She was a devoted wife, faithfully serving with and supporting her husband throughout his 52-year career as a United Methodist minister.

As a homemaker, she enjoyed gardening, flowers, cooking, baking, and letter writing.

Many will remember her sharing homemade bread, pecan rolls, and pies.

She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date and burial will be in Shawville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to Faith United Methodist Church or Shawville United Methodist Church.

Arrangements are being handled by Spitler Funeral Home, Montoursville.
