Elwood H. “Skip” Farr, 93, of Williamsport, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020, at ManorCare Health Services South. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Blanche C. “Tutty” (Weaver) Farr.
Born March 11, 1926, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Verus L. Farr Sr. and Mildred (Sholder) Farr.
Skip served during World War II in the United States Naval Construction Battalion, better known as the Navy Seabees, where he served in the 143 Battalion and was a second-class machinist. Following his service in the military, Skip was employed at Girton Manufacturing Company, Millville, Armour Leather Tannery, Williamsport, Delvin Block, South Williamsport, and later retired from the Local 708.
Skip was a member of Oak Grove Alliance Church. He enjoyed junk collecting, tinkering around his house and garage, gardening, and most of all loved spending time with his family.
Surviving are his sons, William L. Farr (Pam), of Jersey Shore, Gary W. Farr (Sue), of Williamsport, Todd L. Farr (Vicky), of Williamsport, Clifton E. Farr (Cindy), of Shinglehouse, and Scott A. Farr (Sue), of Linden; 29 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Kathleen V. Farr, of Jersey Shore, and his companion of 20 years, Lloyd Ann Fluman.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Thomas L. Farr Sr. and Donald R. Farr (Mel), a brother, Verus L. “Tommy” “Shorty” Farr Jr., and a sister, Helen Farr.
In keeping with his wishes there will be no services. Burial will be held in Buchanan Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
