Dr. Steven J. Rush, 68, of Montoursville, passed away Thursday, November 5, 2020 at his home surrounded by family. He was born July 6, 1952 in Williamsport and was the son of the late Jack and Frances (Kiodo) Rush.
Steve graduated from Montoursville High School, Lock Haven Teachers College with his teaching degree, Bucknell University with his curriculum and supervision certificate, principal and administrative certificates, and superintendent letter of eligibility, and an administrative doctorate from Seton Hall University.
Steve retired from the Montoursville Area School District in 2006 after 32 years having held the positions of classroom teacher and principal. He then became a professor at Lock Haven University for six and a half years.
Steve dedicated his free time to the Volunteers of Indian Park. He loved woodworking, gardening, traveling, and tinkering in his garage.
Steve was a member of the Montoursville Zoning Board and Property Maintenance Board. He was a past member of the Consolidated Sportsmen of Lycoming County and the Antique Automobile Club of America. He also belonged to numerous professional, educational organizations. He was a long-time member of the Montoursville Presbyterian Church having served on many boards including session and trustees.
Steve is survived by his wife, Cathy Rush, a son, Brandon Rush and his wife Angela, a daughter, Dr. Lindsay Rush, and a brother-in-law Newell Thompson, III. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Sherry Delany.
Funeral services will be held at a later date.
Burial will be in Montoursville Cemetery.
