Dr. Donald Russell Lundy Jr. or “Doc”, 81, of Muncy, PA went to be with his Lord on April 21, 2021.
Born July 12, 1939, he was the beloved son of the late Dr. Donald R. Sr. and Emily (Worley) Lundy of Hughesville, PA.
“Doc” was a well-known and highly respected veterinarian serving Lycoming County for 50 years. He established Twin Hills Veterinary Hospital in Muncy, PA in 1963. Bovine medicine was a large part of his practice early on but as the rural dairy farms diminished, his small animal practice expanded.
He had a natural gift for doctoring animals which became the hallmark of his career. “Doc” didn’t require high tech diagnostics to understand his patients and among many farmers, he was known as “the best damn cow doctor around.”
He was a graduate of Lycoming College and the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine but his true veterinary education was handed down from his father “Doc Sr” and his great grandfather Dr. Daniel H. Super.
An outdoorsman and avid hunter, “Doc” enjoyed the sanctity of “the farm” on Blessing Mountain while reveling in the camaraderie with friends and family at the Super-X hunting camp. He was a member and donor to local and national conservancy groups, and the Lycoming County Fair Dairy Show.
A natural born storyteller and entertainer with exceptional comedic timing, he excelled at lightening the hearts of friends, family and clients as well.
Donald is survived by the adoring mother of his children Wanda Stroup Lundy, his children Todd (Nancy) Lundy of Syracuse, NY, Eric (Patti) Lundy, of Montoursville, PA and Natalie (John VanderVlist) Lundy of Toronto, Canada; his grandchildren Kenneth, Philip, Jacob, Daniel, Emma, Ryan, Lukas and Annelies; his dear sister Joyce Rhodes and her sons Michael and Matthew; and his loving partner Mary Allen.
Due to current Covid-19 restrictions, a memorial service will be held and announced at the family’s convenience.
The family would like to thank the angels and saints who lovingly cared for our beloved father, providing him comfort and dignity in his final years.
In lieu of flowers, Don’s family asks that a donation be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research at MichaelJFox.org or by phone at 1-800-708-7644.
