Dorothy L. “Dot” Sennett, 89

Dorothy L. “Dot” Sennett, 89, of Williamsport, passed away peacefully September 7, 2024, at UPMC Williamsport.

Born April 2, 1935, in Muncy, she was a daughter of the late James W., Sr. and Olive R. (O’Donnell) O’Brien.

Dot’s life was one marked by devotion to her family and an unwavering capacity to spread warmth and friendship. She shared a beautiful and enduring marriage of 62 years with her husband, Harry R. Sennett. Together, they built a family foundation strong enough to support the love and laughter of two sons and the joyous addition of five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Dot’s faith and family was the centerpiece of her life, and she cherished every moment as a doting grandmother, affectionately known as “Mimi.” Her nurturing spirit remained a constant even through the sorrow of losing her daughter, Pamela Lewis, and her 12 siblings.

Dot’s working years were spent serving others with a smile as a waitress, a role that suited her friendly and approachable nature. However, her true life’s work was the care she devoted to her home and children.

A fixture in the Newberry community, Dot’s kind-hearted nature extended beyond her family. She was a great neighbor, always ready with a warm smile. Her front porch was a place of solace and community, where friends and neighbors felt welcomed to chat.

She leaves behind a family that adores her, including her devoted husband, Harry; her loving sons, Michael Mummey and Steven Sennett (Ruth) all of Williamsport; her cherished grandchildren, Michael Mummey II, Tiffanie Cupp, Jennell Lentz (Jason), Zachary Sennett (Nicole) and Courtney Sennett; her great-grandchildren, Emily, Ryan, Aurora, Lee and Max; her son-in-law, Earnest Lewis Jr.; numerous nieces and nephews, her dear friend Mary Harner and a special caregiver Courtney Newland.

A funeral service to honor the life of Dot will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, September 12 at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St. Williamsport. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of Service on Thursday at Sanders.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at UPMC Williamsport 5 East, for their exceptional care.

In memory of Dot’s life, the family asks that you share a random act of kindness and be a good neighbor.
