Donald J. “Woody” Woodring, 68, of Jersey Shore, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on April 2, 2019, after a long courageous battle of pancreatic cancer.
Born March 24, 1951, in Vineland, N.J., he was a son of the late William H. and Romaine (Bradley) Woodring.
Woody retired from Eastern Wood Products Co. as a supervisor and forklift driver and was formerly employed at Reese Lumber Co.
Woody’s greatest achievement in life was being a great dad to his six children. He was well known for his witty sense of humor and his willingness and ability to fix anything. He was kind-hearted and thoughtful. He enjoyed being outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Surviving are his six children, Donald J. Woodring Jr. (Erin), of Williamsport; Frances C. Woodring (Jeff), of Williamsport; Mary E. Woodring (Mark), of Muncy; Julie A. Maher, of Linden; Katie A. Millard (Mike), of Jersey Shore; and Kristie A. Eck (Robert), of Jersey Shore; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 11 siblings, Bill D. Woodring “Bump” (Dotty), of Jersey Shore; Jess H. Woodring (Sara), of Sabinsville; Edith Showers (Jim), of Williamsport; Patricia A. Mowery (Floyd), of Williamsport; Carol L. Peluso (Kelly Lee), of Twin Falls, Idaho; Harry Bud Woodring, of Williamsport; Ronald E. Woodring (Linda), of Williamsport; Hughy Woodring, of Muncy; Robert L. Woodring (Jean), of Avis; Edward L. Woodring, of Williamsport; and George Woodring, of Williamsport.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Benjamin and Raymond Woodring, and two sisters, Schwanna Lahit and Mary Showers.
A funeral service to honor the life of Woody will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 5, at Knight-Confer Funeral Home, 1914 Memorial Ave., Williamsport. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service.
