Dennis F. Ream, Sr. 72

Dennis F. Ream, Sr. 72, of Montoursville, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born April 5, 1950 in Bellefonte, PA, the son of the late Vilas Spayd and Martha Lucille (McClellan) Ream.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, the former Sandra L. Collins; son, Dennis F. (Allyson) Ream, Jr. of Lancaster, PA; daughter, Kelley C. (Travis) Reed of Montoursville; brothers, Ronald (Michelle) Ream of Covington, Georgia; Thomas (Cindy) Ream of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; and Mark (Kris) Ream of Venice, Florida; seven grandchildren, Carmen, Kennedi, Cali, Dennis III, and Dax Ream; Cole and Knox Reed.

Formerly of State College, Dennis graduated from State College Area High School, class of 1969. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served 1969-1972. He served two tours in Vietnam where he was a supply officer providing supplies for the front lines in various villages throughout the country. Upon his return to State College, he was employed as office manager at Whitehill Lighting and Supplies. Following Whitehill, he founded and operated Lyco Lighting and Supplies in downtown Williamsport until selling the business due to his declining physical health. Following the sale of Lyco, he started an online retail business which he owned and operated for over 20 years before retiring.

Dennis was a life member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of John F. Laidlein Lodge #707, F&AM, Williamsport Consistory, and was a 32nd Degree member of the Williamsport Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite. Dennis had served on the South Williamsport Zoning Board, the South Williamsport Little League where he served as President, the West Branch Susquehanna Home Builders Association, where he was awarded the Associate Builder of the Year, and a member of Messiah Lutheran Church having served on Church Council and various committees.

Dennis was an engineer. He created countless new products and processes that helped him overcome and accomplish obstacles he faced in his 47 years of living with Multiple Sclerosis. He loved learning and researching about nature, history, the ancient world, how things are made and his cherished Ream genealogy. However, his greatest love was his family to whom he courageously dedicated his life.
