Dena “Dee” L. Brown, 60

Dena “Dee” L. Brown, 60, of South Williamsport, died Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at Jersey Shore Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born October 1, 1965, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of Gerald Brown, Sr. and Doris (Scaife) Brown.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dena Brown, a loving mother and grandmother whose family meant everything to her. She would have given her children and grandchildren the world, and her love for them was evident in countless ways throughout her life.

Dena enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. She loved spending time rocking in her chair watching her favorite TV show, swinging at the river lot, gathering with family and friends, listening to music, and enjoying a cold Bud Light. Some of her happiest moments were those spent laughing, talking, and making memories with the people she loved most.

She was feisty and strong-willed, never afraid to speak her mind or stand up for what she believed. She could be tough, opinionated, but she was genuine and unapologetically herself.

Dena is survived by daughters, Amy L. Getz, Ashlee M. Getz, both of Williamsport; sons, Kevin T. (April) Getz, Keith D. Getz, both of Williamsport; sister, Debra Shadduck, of Williamsport, Joanna (Jeff) Biraghi, of Manville, NJ, Kathie (Steve) Ball, of Muncy, Becky (Scott) Shaffer, Vicki (Donnie Roan) Brown, both of South Williamsport; brother, Charles Shadduck, of Williamsport, and 19 grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Dena was preceded in death by brother, Gerald “Dude” Brown, Jr.

Though her final note has been played, the music of her life will echo in our hearts forever.

Graveside Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, at Montoursville Cemetery.

The family will provide the flowers and suggest memorial contributions to McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home at http://www.mccartythomas.com/payments-and-donations/donate-online to help defray the funeral expenses.

Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at mccartythomas.com.
