Dean Olin Haney, 89

Dean Olin Haney, 89, passed away March 5, 2020, at UPMC Susquehanna.

He was born December 20, 1930, in Wadsworth, Ohio, a son of Leslie L. and Stella (Brown) Haney.

He attended Ohio State University, and then spent two years in the Army Medical Corp in Korea. He graduated from Westminster College, New Wilmington, PA in 1956 with a BS in Math and minor in accounting.

He married Sylvia Leach on September 3, 1955, in Fanwood, NJ. In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Carol Watson, Alan (Chris) Haney, Linda Olmstead, Brian (Marge) Haney, and Daniel Haney; and nine grandchildren.

Dean was a computer programmer and systems analyst for GTE Sylvania. He enjoyed singing, traveling, camping, and running. He was a member of Kappa Mu Epsilon, Epsilon Phi, a hospital volunteer, delivered Meals on Wheels, member of Montoursville Presbyterian Church, where he sang in the choir, and West Branch Chorale for 25 years. He was a member of the Pownal, Vermont Rescue Squad.

A private graveside service ceremony will be held at the convenience of the family, with his pastor, Rev. David C. Smith officiating.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service and celebration of life 11 a.m. April 4, 2020, at Montoursville Presbyterian Church, 900 Elm Street, Montoursville, followed by a social hour and visitation with the family.
