David W. Wetzel, 72

David W. Wetzel, 72, a resident of Montgomery PA, was welcomed into heaven on Saturday, December 12, 2020 after a short hospital stay and then transferred to the Gatehouse at Williamsport. Dave was born to Randolph and Mary Louise Wetzel and raised in Lewisburg, Union County, PA. David was the devoted and loving husband to the love of his life, Connie (Schelb) Wetzel and they would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on Tuesday December 15th.

Dave’s family was most important to him. When he was not working he enjoyed coaching soccer, canoeing with his wife, and countless get-togethers involving “serious” games of croquet. Dave loved attending ALL his kids and grandkids various sporting events and was a fan of Penn State football.

He had a successful career in the banking industry, was a very active member of the borough, worked at the Montgomery Area Community Center and proudly drove for S.T.E.P.

In addition to his wife, Dave is survived by his brother Wayne Wetzel (Lauree) of Milton PA and sister-in-law Kay Wetzel of Selinsgrove PA. Dave loved and was very proud of his five nephews & nieces. Dave was the loving father of Lisa (Brian) Strouse of Montgomery PA, Christopher (Carla) Wetzel of Austin TX, Kimberly (Kenny) Harer of Montgomery PA, and stepdaughter Cynthia (Dennis) Sylvester of Myrtle Beach SC. “Pop” will be sorely missed by his grandkids, Shea, Megan, Alexis, Stephen, Alyssa, Kaylie, Crisena, Maddily, Derek, Farron, and one great-grandchild Nova. He was preceded in death by his parents Randolph & Mary, stepfather Sherman Denius, brother Barry Wetzel, and grandson Matthew Rich.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the physicians, nurses, and staff of the medical centers that helped care for Dave throughout the course of his life.

While no formal gathering will occur due to COVID concerns, cards and photos are welcomed to be shared with the family, mailed to Connie at 738 Pinchtown Road, Montgomery PA 17752. Please visit http://www.betzerfuneral.com to sign the guest book or send an e-condolence.
