David B. Clark, 84, of Montoursville, died Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at Hillside Senior Living. Born May 14, 1941, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Howard B. and Muriel E. (Benjamin) Clark.
David was a wonderful big brother, always looking after his sister Virginia, and giving her sound advice throughout life. He was also a great father, taking his son on walks/hikes to different places during the nicer weather, or enjoying a day trip to State College where he and son would eat lunch and then at their respective stores (David at Svoboda’s bookstore and Jason at the Comic Swap, then named the Book Swap.). David and son would sometimes just enjoy a great movie together.
David had a multi-layered sense of humor, often times being darkly comical, sarcastic, quirky or just plain light-hearted. It is this sense of humor that he always kept with him, even at his final days at Hillside while suffering from dementia.
David was highly intelligent and understood the importance of studying hard. He obtained a Masters in Chemistry from Bucknell and taught at the Pennsylvania College of Technology (although he taught back when it was referred to as WACC, Williamsport Area Community College.). He enjoyed the sport of shooting guns, ranging from a .45 to a .454 Casull, to rifles and belonged to the Sportsman’s club, among others, and was a card-carrying member of the NRA. He spent many an hour constructing models for ships, submarines, airplanes and tanks, mostly from the World War II era. He was incredibly well-read in anything World War II- related, but would also read on Civil War, science with reference to chemistry, physics and the solar system, and even read a few of Stephen Hawkings books.
Although David will be greatly missed by surviving family and friends, a great comfort is taken in knowing that he is in Heaven engaging in jokes and good times with dearly departed family and friends. He already might have even finished building a model, reading a book, or telling some jokes.
David is survived by a son, Jason E. Clark, of Philadelphia; sister, Virginia A. Houser, of Muncy; and nephews, David and Douglas Fry.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his first and second wife, Stephanie Machinski, and Linda Falchek-Clark.
Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 733 Broad Street Montoursville, with Father Andrew M. France officiating. A private burial will follow at Montoursville Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the Funeral Home.
The family will provide the flowers and suggest memorial contributions to Consolidated Sportsmen of Lycoming County, 6386 PA-87 Williamsport, PA, 17701.
