Curtis L. Mantle, 89

Curtis L. Mantle, 89, of 245 Masden Hollow Rd., Beech Creek, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2018 at his home.

He was born in Lock Haven on June 8, 1928, the son of the late Lloyd V. and Pearl I. Miller Mantle. Curt was predeceased by three brothers, Lloyd, Raymond, and Owen Mantle.

Curt was a 1947 graduate of Lock Haven High School. On September 9,1956 he married the former Alta J. Coder Corman whom preceded him in death on July 18, 2001 after 44 loving years of marriage.

He was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952 as a Corporal for his medical unit. He worked on oil rigs in New Mexico and traveled the southwest portion of our country. Upon his return to the area, Curt worked for Piper Aircraft until his retirement in 1984. He was a member of the Beech Creek American Legion and the National Rifle Association. Curt was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed all the time he spent with family and friends in the outdoors. He was thankful for the Masden Hollow friends and neighbors who were always there in time of need.

He is survived by two daughters, Mary Dahlgren of Williamsport and Gloria Noss of Sweet Valley; three sons, Dave (Cathy) Corman of Mill Hall, Fred Mantle of Lock Haven, and Bill (Terry) Mantle of Castanea; one brother, Doyle (Violet) Mantle of Laurel Run; a sister, Lillian Reidy of Chambersburg; sister-in-laws Alberta Mantle of Dunnstown and Pattie Mantle of Beech Creek. Grandchildren are Eric Noss of Sweet Valley, Steve (Alicia) Keller, Robin (Matt) Lovell of Williamsport, Billy Mantle of Colorado, Lee (Kelly) Corman of Beech Creek, Maria (Heath) Stout of Mill Hall, and Jon (Carrie) Corman of Castanea. He was blessed with great grandchildren Megan (Zach) Shaffer, Staci, Breanna and Jenna Rotoli, Ashley, Cheyenne, and Anastasia Keller, Wyatt, Sophie, and Kole Corman, Will and Jack Stout. He is also blessed with four great-great grandchildren. His many nephews and nieces always brought him joy and laughter.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 11A.M. at the Laurel Run United Methodist Church, 2899 Laurel Run Road, Beech Creek, Pa 16822 with Pastor Paula Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Hayes-Fearon Cemetery, Beech Creek. There will be a luncheon following at the Beech Creek Fire Hall.

A viewing will be held on Saturday at the church from 10A.M. until the time of the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Laurel Run United Methodist Church.
