Clara M. (Luxenberger) Gerber, 106, of Loyalsock Twp., died April 26, 2024.
She was born Feb. 14, 1918, a daughter of Irene (Luxenberger) Norris. She was raised by her grandparents, George and Susanna Luxenberger.
Clara graduated from the former St. Joseph’s High School in 1936. Her Husband of 36 years, Ambrose C. Gerber, died May 11, 1974.
A devoted wife and mother, Clara always enjoyed spending time with family. She and her husband raised 12 children. Clara was a faithful Christian and member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish. For a time, she served as an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion and had volunteered in the parish center kitchen for many years.
Clara is survived by her sons, Paul of Williamsport, Ramon (Madelyn) of Lansdale, Joseph of Williamsport, Gerard (Bernadette) of Port St. Lucie, FL; daughters, Alice Hirschle of Williamsport and Christina (Mark) Weitlich of Cogan Station; sister, Mary Capkovic of Williamsport; daughters-in-law, Susan Gerber of Montoursville, Jean Gerber of Mingoville and Nayana Flipse of The Villages, FL.; 26 grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband; sons, Charles, Daniel, Michael and Laurence; daughters Marie Kiessling and Carla Szybist; brothers, Richard, Frank, James and Jack Norris; sisters, Dorothy Stavoy, Rachel Gardner and Lenora Janeski and a great granddaughter, Brea Herder all preceded her in death.
The family will receive family and friends at Crouse Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 133 E. 3rd St., Williamsport on Wednesday May 1, 2024, from 6 to 8 pm and Friday, May 3, 2024 from 8:30 to 9:30 am.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 am Friday May 3, 2024 at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 702 W. 4th St., Williamsport with the Rev. David W. Bechtel officiating followed by burial at Resurrection Cemetery, Montoursville, PA.
