Charlotte J. Weaver, 92

Charlotte J. Weaver, 92, of Hughesville, died Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at UPMC Muncy Place.

Born October 22, 1931, in Moreland Township, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Marie (Houseknecht) Reece.

After completing high school at East Lycoming School District in 1949, Charlotte married her husband in 1951 and began farming on 270 acres in Hughesville. Outside of farming, Charlotte was employed at Harter’s Drugstore, Muncy, as a clerk for seven years, and later she was a co-owner of Weaver’s Antiques with her husband.

On Sunday’s you could find Charlotte attending the Moreland Baptist Church where she was truly involved within the church community. She was a deaconess, Sunday school teacher, bible study leader, and mission advocate. As time progressed, she lost her husband in 1990, and she donated land from the farm to Habitat for Humanity, and the remaining land was donated to Lime Bluff Park, Hughesville. In 2010 Charlotte transferred her church membership to Hughesville Baptist Church to continue her missionary work.

Charlotte was a member of the Muncy Historical Society and the president and lecturer of antiques within the East Lycoming Historical Society. Outside of volunteering, Charlotte traveled throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe, Caribbean, Panama Canal, Mexico, Costa Rica, Iceland, Greece, Australia, and Egypt where she took many photographs and completed short term missionary work. She would return home and share her adventures with church groups, historical society, and others.
In addition to her parents, Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Ralph D. Weaver.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, August 2, 2024, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with Joani Steward officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hughesville. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

The family will provide the flowers and suggest memorial contributions to the Hughesville Baptist Church, 37 N. Third St., Hughesville, PA 17737.
