Charles L. “Busser” Poust, Jr., 70, of Muncy, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at his home surrounded by family, and under the care of Compassus Hospice.
Born December 30, 1953, in Bloomsburg, he was a son of Sarah “Norma” (Rishel) Poust of Hughesville, and the late Charles L. “Jack” Poust, Sr. He graduated from Hughesville High School in 1972, and served his country faithfully as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army as an Airborne Ranger during the Vietnam. He owned and operated Susquehanna Valley Logging for over 20 years and was previously employed by Wodrig and Houseknecht logging companies. Busser enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, shooting skeet, and demolition derbies. He also enjoyed attending country music concerts, going on family vacations, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his mother, is Busser’s life-companion, Kathy L. (Gansel) Magargle of Muncy; two sons: Nathan A. Poust of Muncy, and Seth A. (Kathy) Magargle of Trout Run; a daughter, Alicia N. Magargle of Turbotville; six grandchildren: Jordan, Hailey, Maya, Mazee, Kayla and Naomi; two great-grandchildren: Charlie and Amara, and two sisters: Lisa (Scott) Hall of Hughesville, and Kristina (Christopher) Hartman of Unityville.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dane Poust, sister, Lucinda “Cindy” Houseknecht, and his beloved dog, Jewels Poust.
Funeral services will be held privately for the family at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, PA 17737 with burial to follow in Salem Cemetery, Unityville. Military honors to be provided by a combined VFW/American Legion accord.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for all of those who loved Busser.
