Charles H. “Charlie” Hicks, 83, of Montoursville, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2019, at ManorCare Health Services South. Surviving is his loving wife, Flora Jane (Neal) Hicks with whom they would have celebrated 65 years of marriage on September 11.
Born Aug. 14, 1935, in Canton, he was a son of the late Charles F. and Ethel L. (Foulkrod) Hicks.
Charlie was a 1953 graduate of Canton High School and later retired from Shirn’s as a car salesman for almost 50 years.
Charlie attended Bethel-Linden Presbyterian Church. He loved cars and was featured twice in the National Hot Rod magazine with his Pontiac Ventura. His true passion was drag racing where he won a trophy and held two national records in IHRA and NHRA stock eliminator.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his four children, Susan M. Tillotson (Jim), of Muncy, Janice K. Moore (Craig), of Williamsport, Bradley N. Hicks (Lois), of Williamsport, and Bryan K. Hicks (Dawn), of Avis; 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; a brother, Norman L. Hicks (Carol), of Williamsport, a sister, Sharon L. Horton, of Canton; and his beloved cat, Sissy.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Shelva Jean Harzinski.
A graveside service to honor the life of Charlie will be held 10 a.m. Monday, July 29, in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy, for close friends and family.
