Charles D. Wheeler, 86

Charles D. Wheeler, 86, of Williamsport, passed away Monday, October 23, 2023 at the Regional Hospital of Scranton.

He was born on October 9, 1937 in Williamsport and was the son of the late Arthur B. and Leona (Hannen) Wheeler.

After graduating high school, he served his country by joining the US Navy. Charles had worked at Bethlehem Steel and then retired. He had attended the Church of Our Savior and enjoyed wrestling, bowling, darts, horse shoes, hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a candy maker known for his peanut butter fudge and had the nickname of “Squirt”.

Charles is survived by two sons; Ernie W. Wheeler (Vickie) and David E. Wheeler (Tammy), one daughter; Serena L. Gonzalez (Luis), five grandchildren; Charles Wheeler, Stacey Wheeler, Kymberly Wheeler, Kelena Gonzalez and Shalena Gonzalez, eight great-grandchildren; Tyziere, Tavion, Nora, Grady, Jane, Cordelia, Amaya and Lacey as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers; Arthur B. Wheeler, Jr., James Wheeler and Robert H. Wheeler.

Services will be announced at a later date.

Arrangements are being handled by Maneval Allen Redmond Funeral Home, 500 W. 4th St., Williamsport.
