Carolyn L. “Carol” Eckert, 97

Carolyn L. “Carol” Eckert, 97, of Williamsport, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at The Presbyterian Home. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 47 years, William F. Eckert in 1992.

Born on March 12, 1926, in Quiggleville, she was a daughter of the late Edward L. and Grace E. (Dauber) Hornberger.

Carol was a graduate of Hepburnville School District and was a long-time member of the Bethel-Linden Presbyterian Church. Her life was dedicated to her family as a homemaker. She was a pillar of strength and love, raising six children with grace and kindness. Her home was always filled with laughter, warmth, and the smell of her delicious cooking. Carol had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. She could often be found in her garden, tending to her plants with care. In addition, Carol was an accomplished quiller, creating beautiful pieces that will be cherished by her family for generations to come.

Surviving are her six children, Dennis W. Eckert (Andrea) of Wyalusing, Cynthia L. Robinson of Gilbert, AZ, Karen A. Holmes (William) of Williamsport, Kim E. Fornwalt (Kenneth) of Cogan Station, Geoffrey C. Eckert (Kathryn) of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Kevin W. Eckert (Cheryl) of Williamsport; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; her brother Clyde “Sam” Hornberger (Ruth) of Cogan Station; and her three sisters, Miriam Webster and Regina Gross, both of Williamsport, and Mildred Bartley of Cogan Station.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Edward J. Hornberger, two sisters, Anna “Jean” Dickey and Josephine Bower, and a son-in-law, Fred Robinson.

A memorial service to honor the life of Carol will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 18 at Bethel Linden Presbyterian Church 2758 Bottle Run Rd, Williamsport with her pastor, Lisa Dabney, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Carol’s name to the Bethel Linden Presbyterian Church 2758 Bottle Run Rd Williamsport, PA 17701.
