Carl James Miller Jr., 66

Carl James Miller Jr., 66, of Williamsport, died Monday, Jan. 27, 2020, at The Gatehouse of Divine Providence Hospital after a three-year battle with Alzheimer’s.

Born Oct. 9, 1953, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Carl J. Sr. and Catherine (Pfirman) Miller. He married the former Linda L. Maurer on Aug. 24, 1985.

Carl was a 1971 graduate of Williamsport High School. Following high school, he worked at various companies as a spray painter, as well as at Northrup-Grumman. The last 20 years of his working life he was employed by Jersey Shore Steel, Avis, retiring in 2013. He was a member of the Steel Workers Union Local 4907.

Carl loved the outdoors, especially hunting as a member of the Red Oak Hunting Club. He was a football fan of his longtime favorite team, the San Francisco 49ers. He also loved NASCAR and cheering for Chase Elliott.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Lauri A. Williams, of Lock Haven, five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, a sister, Sherry J. McCabe, of Williamsport, several cousins, and a host of lifelong friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Adam E. Springman Jr., and a nephew, Michael McCabe.

In keeping with his wishes there will be no services. Interment will be held privately in Wildwood Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Carl’s name to the Lycoming County SPCA, 2805 Reach Road, Williamsport, PA 17701.
