Carl E. Ulsamer, 73, of Williamsport passed away at the Gatehouse surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, December 8, 2024 after an 8 year long courageous battle with various health issues.
Born September 9, 1951 in Jersey Shore he was a son of the late Carl J. Ulsamer and Wilhelmina E. (Steinbacher) Ulsamer of Williamsport. Carl grew up in Collomsville, PA where he enjoyed many adventures with his cousins whom he remained close to the very end.
Carl was a 1969 graduate of Jersey Shore Area Senior High School. He then earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Computer science from Lock Haven University. Carl was employed at Brodart for 37 years before retiring. There he met his best friend and love of his life, Dee A. (Carpenter) Ulsamer. They were united in marriage August 24, 1991 and together celebrated 33 years of marriage.
Carl was a faithful life member of St. Joseph Worker Parish, where he served on past committees as parish council, sacristan, altar server trainee, extraordinary minister and sang in the choir. Carl enjoyed singing and was a member of various folk groups.
An avid outdoorsman, Carl loved being outside hunting or taking a simple walk. For many years, he was a member of Schwartzwald Hunting Club. Carl was known to never turn down a good IPA, or whiskey and cigar.
Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are four children, Bernadette Ulsamer (Brad Keller) of Pittsburgh, Charles Ulsamer of Fort Collins, CO, Justin Hammaker (Stephanie) Loving, NM and Ashley Bower (Wade) of Williamsport; siblings, Constance A. Engel (Joseph), Donna M. Ulsamer- Thomas (Harold), Cynthia M. Corragio, and Theresa L. Knott (Sean); and many nieces and nephews. Carl cherished his two granddaughters, Vivian and Charlotte Keller.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph H. Ulsamer and brother-in-law, Rocco Corragio.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, December 16 at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 702 West Fourth St. Williamsport. Burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
A viewing will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, December 15 at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond Street, Williamsport.
The family is forever grateful for the loving care provided by Dr. Stea and his staff, the entire staff at the Williamsport Dialysis Center, and the exceptional care provided by the staff at the Gatehouse. Carl left a lasting impression on anyone he met and was loved by all. He will be greatly missed but always remembered.
