Calvin “Cal” W. Tilley, 80

Calvin “Cal” W. Tilley, 80, of Williamsport, passed away on September 3, 2022 at his residence in Williamsport.

He was born on December 9, 1941, in Williamsport, son of the late Helen B. and William H. Tilley.

Cal started delivering papers when he was 12 years old around Williamsport. He attended Williamsport High school and graduated in 1960. After graduating, he attended WAC to get his electrical degree. He went on to work at Williamsport Candy company, Clark and Hoag Tire Co., and Vidmar in the painting department. He was offered an apprenticeship with L&N Plastering Contractors doing plaster work. Cal married Pat on April 1, 1967. He started his own bicycle business. He went to Schwinn Bicycle service school and was the Schwinn bicycle dealer for 17 years. For a short time, he worked for Matt Gibbs at Pontiac and Buick in Hughesville. Cal then helped his wife operate Merle Norman Cosmetics and Day Spa as business manager. He returned to construction operating his business, C.W. Tilley Old House Restorations and restored many buildings in Williamsport, including the building at 18 West Third Street. He retired from the construction business in 2015. He enjoyed playing pool, riding bikes, hiking, spending time with his dogs, and was a ham radio operator.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, William.

He survived by his wife, the former Patricia K. Easton; Son, Lee (Laura) Tilley; two daughters, Tina (Dan) Tilley Lord, and Mindy (Fred) Tilley Price; a sister, Faye Martin; eight grandchildren: Stacy, Colton, Jacob, Stephanie, Melinda, Aidan, Kathryn, and Ashton; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Calvin’s life will be on September 25, 2022 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Montoursville American Legion, 1312 Broad Street, Montoursville, with a memorial service beginning at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. John A. Brindger officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Calvin’s name to the Lycoming County S.P.C.A., 2805 Reach Road, Williamsport, PA 17701, or to the Susquehanna Health Foundation, 1001 Grampian Boulevard, Williamsport, PA 17701. Please include a note on the contribution to benefit to the Home Hospice.
