Boyd “Bud” F. Bedford, 83

Boyd “Bud” F. Bedford, 83, of Forksville, Pennsylvania passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at The Gatehouse, Williamsport.

Born January 23, 1941, in Sayre, PA, he was a son of the late Merton E. and Sylvia (Kilmer) Bedford. Bud graduated from the Loyalsock Joint High School, Class of 1958 in Estella, before enlisting in the United States Army where he served his country faithfully. He married the former Susan Marie (Rosbach) Bedford on November 28, 1964 spending 46 years together before her passing on September 10, 2010. Boyd was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed raising Percherons with his father and brothers in his younger years, attending local horse pulls and midget dirt track races, watching his favorite NASCAR racer and Yankees, going to breakfast with his friend, Bill Hart, or attending the Sullivan County fair and most of all spending time with his family. Bud was an independent trucker his entire life making runs from Pennsylvania to Chicago and beyond.

He is survived by his devoted significant other of over 13 years, Debra L. Boecker of Forksville; four sons: Kevin Bedford of Jim Thorpe, Lorin (Kim) Bedford of Towanda, Stephan (Ronda) Bedford of Shamokin, and Aaron Bedford, of Jim Thorpe; 19 grandchildren: Braden, Makayla, Meggie, Whitney, McKenzie, Nicholas, Duncan, Tia, Carly, Aaron, Alaina, Amira, Wesley, Bethany, Kymberly, Deacon, Gabby, Rylan and Colton; five great-grandchildren: Theo, Milo, Hazel, Evelyn, and Noah; two brothers: Carl (Audrey) Bedford of Mehoopany, and Bruce Bedford of MN, a step-son: Jeremy Boecker of Forksville, and a step-daughter: Brooke Sheets of Tivoli.

In addition to his wife, Boyd was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Bedford.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at, McCarty-Thomas Funeral Homes, Inc. 119 Carpenter St., Dushore, PA 18614 with Pastor Ron Dyer, officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery, Forksville. Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. A combined Military honors group will provide a pass in review at 9:45 a.m.

The family will provide the flowers and suggest memorial contributions to the Forksville Volunteer Fire Company.
