Bertha Poliska, 93

Bertha Poliska, 93

Bertha Poliska, 93, of Williamsport, died Thursday, August 15, 2024, at her home. Born December 4, 1930, in Barbours, she was a daughter of the late Earl Smith and the late Hazel (Sawyer) Smith.

Bertha loved to laugh. Her favorite expression was ” It’s a great life if you don’t weaken”, and she never weakened. She was always happy whether it was making a beautiful fancy cake for a friend, camping with her family or as a Girl Scout leader showing 100’s of girls their adventures. As she aged Jesus became so important to her as she was very involved in Prison Ministry, Yoke Fellowship and Women’s Aglow, and missioned with her granddaughter to Mexico, Dominican Republic and Belgium. Her biggest role in life was Mom and Mimi. Her kids were her purpose and grandchildren and great grandchildren kept her young. Her heart and lap were big enough for them all!

Bertha is survived by daughters; Susan E. (Steven) Kibler, of Williamsport, Lois M. (Maurice) Gateley, of South Williamsport, Linda A. (Douglas) Aikey, of Central City, 7 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Bertha was preceded in death by her husbands, and by her brothers, Franklin and William Smith.

Funeral Service will be held 11a.m. Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 733 Broad Street Montoursville, with Pastor John Butler officiating. Burial will follow at Barbours Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Funeral Home.
