Barbara Ann Lachat, 87, of McElhattan, passed away at her home Thursday, December 26, 2024.

Born March 9, 1937 in Lock Haven, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Evelyn Allen Remick.

On December 17, 1955, she married Frederick James Lachat, Sr., who preceded her in death July 5, 2015.

Barbara was an avid cook and worked many local restaurants in her earlier years.

She was a member of the Hillview Wesleyan Church, Flemington.

Barbara was an accomplished harmonica player and singer. She enjoyed search word puzzles, scratch-off lottery tickets and loved watching Gun Smoke. Above all, she cherished her family – especially mountain rides with her husband, spending time with her grandkids and sharing her delicious meals and baked goods with them during the holidays.

Barbara is survived by four children, Frederick J. (Judy) Lachat, Jr. of Lock Haven, Kathy M. Lachat of McElhatten, Brenda A. (Ken Walizer) Lachat of Lykens and Michael L. Lachat of McElhattan; six grandchildren: Josie, Jamie, Joshua, Devin, Michael David and Kendra; and twelve great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Heather A. Merrill; two sisters; two brothers; and two half-brothers.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at 2 P.M. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, PA 17745.

Friends and family will be received on Thursday from Noon until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Alzheimer’s Association. A covered dish or a monetary donation to the Wayne Twp. Fire Co. will be accepted to assist with the reception scheduled to follow services.
