Barbara A. “Barb” Sunner, 72, of Danville, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2025 at home.
Born June 3, 1952 in Lewisburg, she was a daughter of the late Wayne and Helen (Smith) Kuykendall. In September 1982 she married Mark Sunner, and together they celebrated 42 years of marriage.
Barb was a 1970 graduate of Warrior Run High School. She graduated magna cum laude from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and received her master’s degree from Widener University. She began a decorated career in government in 1974 and served as Deputy Commander of DCMA, Philadelphia. She was the recipient of various awards, including but not limited to the Defense Logistics Agency Superior Civilian Service Award, DLA Meritorious Civilian Service Award, Director’s Award for Organizational Excellence, The Cawley Award, and Lead with Action Award.
Barb was passionate about volunteering at Middleton Free Library in Media, PA. She loved to travel the world with her sister, together visiting 10 countries. She loved dogs and cats, especially her two Siamese, Tasha and Monkey. Earlier in life, she belonged to United In Christ Lutheran Church and The Kiwanis Club of Milton/Warrior Run.
In addition to her husband Mark, of Danville, she is survived by sisters, Shirley McPherrin and her husband, Ted, and Jane Mertz and her husband, Mike; a stepson, Matthew Sunner; and nieces, Chrissy, Jessi, and Betsy.
Preceding her in death, besides her parents, was a grandmother, Emma Smith.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no services.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Barb’s memory be made to Middleton Free Library, 464 South Old Middleton Road, Media, PA 19063, or United In Christ Lutheran Church, 1875 Churches Road, Lewisburg, PA 17837.
