Arlene May (Owens) Foulds, 91, of Avis, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2024 at home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born May 9, 1932, in Centralia to the late Edward and Iva (Kreischer) Owens, Arlene moved with her family at age ten to Trevorton, where she would graduate with the class of 1950 and meet her future husband, Frank T. Foulds. They married in 1951 and moved to Avis, which became her forever home. Together, Arlene and Frank celebrated 57 years of marriage upon his death in 2008.
Arlene was previously employed by Ceramics by LaForce, Woolrich, and the Jersey Shore School District where she reluctantly retired as a lunch monitor in 2020 at 88.
Additionally, Arlene was an active member of the Avis United Methodist Church for nearly 70 years, singing in the choir and serving as a communion steward. She was also an avid card-sender, sending cards to family, friends, and neighbors for all occasions.
Arlene leaves behind a daughter, Cindy (Kim) Davis of Jersey Shore, a son, Elden of Avis; two granddaughters, Sherry (Joe) Steppe, Stephanie (Justin) Jordan, and six great-grandchildren, Hannah, Brady, Maya, Elijah, Nina, and Cole of Cogan Station; two sisters-in-law, Lorraine Foulds of Trevorton; and Jane (Leon) Shreffler of Lancaster; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Arlene is predeceased by a sister, Jean Peifer and two brothers-in-law, Robert Peifer and Charles Foulds.
Arlene will be greatly missed by her family and many close friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend a public visitation from 9-10am on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Avis United Methodist Church, 215 Prospect Ave., Avis. Arlene’s celebration of life service will follow, beginning at 10:00am with Pastor Brian Moyer officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park.
