Anna R. Lechniak, 94

Anna R. Lechniak, 94, a longtime resident of South Williamsport, died on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at Valley View, Montoursville.

Born October 26, 1930 in Kulpmont, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Anna (Imricko) Nemeth. On May 15, 1954 she married Walter “Wally” Lechniak who predeceased her on September 17, 2018.

Anna attended school in Kulpmont and worked a short time at the former Kammack as a machine operator in the 1950’s. She spent most of her years raising and caring for her family.

She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, South Williamsport, and served on the Altar and Rosary Society.

Anna enjoyed bingo in her earlier years, and day trips to casinos.

Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Michael W. and Patricia M. Lechniak, of South Williamsport; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Anne and Brent L. Smithgall, of Williamsport; one former daughter-in-law, Christine M. Taormina, of Williamsport; five grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one son, David J. Lechniak; and two sisters, Mary Nemeth and Julie Smigiel.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 30 at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St. Muncy, where a rosary will be recited at 5 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 31 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 800 West Central Avenue, South Williamsport, with Rev. Glenn McCreary, officiating.

Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Montoursville.

The family suggests contributions in Anna’s memory be made to St. Lawrence Church and mailed to 326 Washington Blvd. Williamsport, PA 17701.
