Andrew “Andy” Mattie, 92

Andrew “Andy” Mattie, 92, of Montoursville, passed away peacefully at home on May 17, 2025.

Born on November 17, 1932, in Swoyersville, PA, Andy was the son of the late Andrew and Anna (Stelma) Mattie.

He graduated from Dallas High School and earned an associate degree from Kingston Vocational Technical School.

Andy served his country honorably in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1954, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a crew chief on a B-29 during the Korean War and survived a downing in the Sea of Japan — a testament to his courage and resilience. Following his military service, Andy built a successful career, starting M&S Conversion and retiring as Executive Vice President of Engineering and Manufacturing at Carey McFalls.

Andy was known for his love of the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and gardener who took great joy in nature and time spent with family.

Andy was married to his beloved wife for 67 years, the former Theresa Nocek.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his four children: Stephen (Karen), Robert, Terri (Rob Guerin), and Raymond (Shelly). He was a proud grandfather of 12 and great-grandfather to 24.

Andy was preceded in death by his parents, and grandson Conner Mattie.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Susquehanna Health Foundation for the benefit of UPMC Family Hospice in Andy’s memory, 1001 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
