Don’t Miss The Party Of The Summer! Gilson Snow, a premier snowboard and ski manufacturing company based in New Berlin, PA, is thrilled to once again be throwing the summer’s biggest party in the Susquehanna River Valley again this year!
Not a company to let something like a factory fire stop them, the crew at Gilson has risen from the ashes like a phoenix. “To say that 2022 was a challenging year would certainly be an understatement,” said Andrew Mikowski, CMO and partner at Gilson. “We watched the factory we spent so many years building burn to the ground. We went a whole season without building new snowboards and skis. But we’re incredibly fortunate to have such an amazing community and team behind us, and we couldn’t be more excited to turn on our new American manufacturing facility in September.”
When asked why Gilson Snow decided to stay in the area, Mikowski responded, “We are proud to live, work and play in the Susquehanna River Valley, and growing a business here has been incredible. The local community is amazing, and economic resources throughout the Commonwealth are first-class. Staying home here in Pennsylvania was an easy choice for us.” Mikowski went on to say that after the dust from the fire settled, they put their heads together to tackle the rebuilding process. The most important issue they had to address was timing, as they wanted to be back up and running as soon as possible and certainly didn’t want to miss another season. “We looked at options for rebuilding at our existing location, as well as opportunities to move into existing facilities. We couldn’t be more excited about our new facility, which is located just off of Market Street in Selinsgrove. With a footprint more than 4x as large as our original, our new home gives us the room we need to keep up with our continued growth,” said Mikowski.
When asked why they decided to hold their annual Summer Snow Day after such recent challenges, Mikowski responded, “Having Summer Snow Day again this year was really important to us. As we’re just about to turn the new factory “live,” Summer Snow Day gives us the opportunity to celebrate with the community at our original location where we’ve made so many memories over the ten years that we’ve been building snowboards and skis here in Pennsylvania. The Summer Snow Day has always been a celebration of the community. This is going to be the biggest event yet, and we will carry on many of the traditions that people have grown to love. Like past events, there will be live music all day, FREE BEER, wine, cider and spirits, great food trucks, and artisan vendors. We have also expanded our Knoebels Kids Zone to include even more fun things for our younger attendees. This year’s Snow Beast Challenge will have options for folks who only want to try out an event or two. Finally, for snowboarders and skiers looking to score a deal, we will have the last of our remaining inventory priced ridiculously low to make way for our new lineup. This event has something for everyone, so bring the whole family – even your four-legged furry friends!”
