I want to start out this week by saying Thank You! We have heard so many comments and compliments about last week’s anniversary issue! It’s been so amazing to hear how much everyone enjoyed the issue and how much love y’all have for Webb Weekly! I can’t wait to celebrate again in another 20 years!
I am happy to see that we are finally out of January! I swear it’s the longest month of the year! Hopefully, we’ve got a clear (and short) shot to March and spring from here. It will be interesting to see what prediction Phil brings us tomorrow!
I have hit the point of winter where I start looking for a new hobby or project to take on. I’ve had thoughts of painting my bathroom, removing the carpet from my stairs, and possibly re-doing the finish on my countertops in the kitchen. I haven’t had any hobbies that will inevitably be left abandoned call to me yet. What do you guys do to while away the winter nights?
I did get a new copy of my favorite video game (and the console to play it on) for Christmas, so I have been spending some time playing that. But, since all our consoles are connected to the same TV in my house, I have to share playing time with the boys. I can’t seem to settle on what I want to take on this year.
I tried to pick up crocheting last year, but I couldn’t seem to get the hang of it. I bought a whole little kit thing that was supposed to make it super simple to learn, but they lied. They lied hard.
I have a whole bin of forsaken crafts and hobbies, so maybe I should just go back and try one of those again. I did enjoy knitting but had issues getting the loops to stay the same tension. It was a whole thing of trying it to help with anxiety and only resulting in me being even more tense…
Adult coloring books had the same effect. I got so into getting each page just right that it just wasn’t fun anymore — maybe I should have just stuck with regular kids’ books!
I’ve been watching a lot of the show “Moonshiners” on the Discovery Channel. For a hot second, I had myself fully convinced that this could be my next great hobby, but besides the legalities, I’m not even sure how to begin such a thing. It would be super cool to figure it out, but the startup also looks pretty pricy, so I’m not sure it’s a feasible endeavor.
I’m sure that I will stumble across something that will trip my trigger here soon — I usually do — in the meantime, I suppose I can always read a book or play cards with the boys…
One thing I am looking forward to is putting together my Super Bowl predictions article for the January 8th edition. This is one of my favorite Webb Weekly traditions that Mike Rafferty started. By the time you read this, we will know who’s going to the big game, but it’s still up in the air as of my writing! Once we have the teams finalized, feel free to send me your thoughts on who is going to win! You can email me at webbnews@webbweekly.com!
