Local Man Writes Treasure Heist Novel

Not many people write novels at the age of 64, but Joe Farley is one of those brave few. He has penned a self-published novel he terms a “treasure heist” — one titled Castillo.

He says it is an interesting “modern-day adventure” that takes place in St. Augustine, Florida, the oldest city in the United States.

Farley describes the story this way, “An old sea-dog followed a myth for 50 years of his life until he finally shanghais three local men into finding what he thinks is hundreds of years’ worth of stolen treasure from the coffers of Spain.

“The one bright light in this endeavor is a beautiful pixie of a girl who has to put up with this ragtag, makeshift boys group and keep them grounded.”

He continued, “Little did they know, their very lives would hang in the balance, impending doom, perilous pitfalls, and outside influences the likes of which they could never have imagined and more lay in store.”

This is his first novel, and while it has only been out a few months, according to Farley, the feedback has been beyond his expectations, so much so that he is currently working on a second novel. More of ‘The saga continues’ vs. a sequel.

Farley is a Navy veteran where he served as a cryptographer, meeting his wife while working at the National Security Agency. They live in Williamsport and have four children.

Castillo is available locally at Otto Book Store on Amazon and as an e-book. A personalized signed copy by the author can be obtained by accessing http://www.josephfarley.com.
