Picnics of the family type, innumerable auto excursions, generally, more or less family affairs, and trips to nearby pleasure parks will comprise the major activities of the patriots of Williamsport Monday, the day the 150th anniversary of our independence is celebrated.

The two- and one-half days reprieve from desk, bench, kitchen counter or what have you, will get out and enjoy themselves without any special program.

Many are expecting to make a three-day vacation out of it, leaving the city early this morning.

This business generally will be at a complete standstill Monday. Groceries, stores, public buildings, banks and similar institutions will be closed.

There will be a game of New York-Pennsylvania League baseball at the Memorial Field Park in the afternoon between the Shamokin Indians and the Williamsport Grays and the managers of the ball team are looking forward to a record-breaking attendance.

In the morning the park will be the scene of a boxing show, the featured bout being a battle between light heavyweight boxers.

Memorial Field is making preparations for a big day and several new amusement places will be opened on Monday. Fireworks will be displayed in the evening.

If the weather is favorable on Monday, no doubt hundreds of motor parties will make the run either to Watkins Glen, Ricketts Glen, Penns Cave or Eagles Mere and spend the day at one of these resorts. The new road to Eagles Mere is in fine condition and the lake resort is a delightful place to spend the day.
