The City of Williamsport’s Recreation Department is getting ready for the holiday season. There will be multiple different family-friendly events taking place this year.
Up first, on Friday, November 22th at 6:00 p.m. the Children’s Magical Christmas Parade welcoming Santa to town. The parade kicks off at Elmira and Third Streets heading East, then North on Pine Street, then and West on Fourth Street to Elmira Street. Santa and the Mayor will Light the tree on the Green (corner of Hepburn and West Fourth Streets) concluding the parade. There will be an opportunity to visit Santa at Liberty Arena after the parade! So get your lists ready!
Then, on Friday, December 6th from 5:00-8:00 p.m. in Brandon Park will be the annual Festival of Lights. This event keeps growing to not only include the magical lighting of the trees in the park but also dance performances, ice sculpting, food, music, character meet and greet with Disney characters and the Grinch, children’s Christmas craft workshop, free horse drawn wagon rides, children’s Wish List letter writing station, visitations with Santa and more! Also, we are excited to announce that we are featuring an Open-Air Holiday Market as our newest addition to this heartwarming family event this year. There will be artisan vendors to purchase unique holiday gifts, face painting, coffee and hot cocoa, food trucks and more. The whole family is encouraged to bundle up and enjoy this beloved community event that is truly a holiday treasure to be celebrated by everyone!
Don’t worry if you can’t attend the events listed above to visit Santa, he will still have some open visitation hours on Friday, November 22 & 29, December 6 & 20 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Liberty Arena located at the main entrance.
