Get out your lederhosen and Alpine hats and come out to Preservation Williamsport’s fundraiser, “Brew With a View From The Porch” that is being presented on Friday, October 4. This event affords you a rare opportunity. You are invited to stroll down Millionaires Row, and visit seven historic Victorian porches where you will be served German food, local wine, and beer.
Brew with a View from the Porch begins with a tribute to Ted Lyon at 5 p.m. at the historic district entrance. This Octoberfest then continues down the street with German music, dancing, food, beer, and wine.
Many of our area restaurants and microbreweries have contributed to making this event spectacular. These include the Moon and Raven, Riepstein’s, Boom City, Therapy Brewery, Farrow Winery, The Bullfrog, and Gayle’s Kombucha are a few of the contributors. Chef Hosch is opening up his doors to entertain you as only a professional caterer can. Brenda Hagedorn will be cooking up a storm on one of the porches. Gesang Verein Harmonia Chorus will be singing German drinking songs. Fourth Street will be closed from Elmira to Center Street so that all may Polka in the street and visit the Silent Auction.
Tickets are $35 for Preservation Williamsport members. $40 for non- members. They can be purchased at Fink’s Paint Store before the event. Tickets are $50 at the event and can be purchased at the Rowley House, 707 West Fourth Street.
Please join the folks at Preservation Williamsport at 5 p.m. when they honor Edward (Ted) Lyon. Ted was a dynamic character who will be sorely missed. His talents were numerous. His enthusiasm was contagious. He was an advocate for the historic district, rehabilitating many dilapidated beauties and serving on the board of Preservation Williamsport. The ceremony will be held on the corner of Fourth and Elmira where a plaque will be unveiled. John Piper and Bob Elion will preside.
Preservation Williamsport officials would also like to thank all their sponsors: Mid State Beverage, Davis Insurance, Musser Construction, Cindy and Jim Bower, Kay Ertel, Michael Tselentis, and BJ VanEss and Bill Nichols Sr.
They also extend their appreciation to the Shamrock, Nik & Jean’s Goldworks, Woodlands Bank, Farrington Place, the Print Shoppe, Susquehanna Gallery and Frame Shoppe, Muncy Bank, Buttorff”s Hardware, and Woolrich for also contributing.
The Rowley House and museum, 707 West Fourth Street, will be open for touring throughout the evening.
Members of Preservation Williamsport will be happy to show you where all the monies generated from this event are going. The party will culminate at the Rowley House at 7:30. If you’d like to know more about this wonderful organization and all they do, please visit: Preservationwilliamsport.com or follow them on Facebook.
This event promises to be a “gemutlich” time for all.
