There are many interesting and unusual ways to raise funds to benefit organizations or causes. For the third straight year, the Williamsport High School Millionaire Football Team will be conducting a mattress sale fundraiser as a way of defraying the extensive costs of a football program so that the taxpayers aren’t footing the entire bill.

If you’re in the market for a new bed or bedding accessories AND want to support local students, be sure to stop by the Williamsport Area Middle School at 2800 West Fourth Street on Saturday, April 21. You will find adjustable bed frames, luxury pillows, box springs and a vast array of mattresses, including latex and memory foam, along with a team of experts on hand to answer any questions. Take your time trying out the mattresses. You will find better-than-retail prices, AND your purchase will help the Football Team. This event has been nicknamed “To the Mats.”

Owner and founder of the “Mattress Fundraiser,” Joe Matejka told “Webb Weekly,” the key to making the fundraisers so successful is the kids. “The concept is unusual, but one that absolutely works. One in ten people buys a new mattress every single year. We offer the community a quality product they need at a great price, and the best part is that every sale benefits the school. Our one-day sale can help a group raise thousands of dollars! That is why we are in this business — to help the kids!”

Williamsport Area High School will be hosting the Mattress Fundraiser on April 21, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. They will transform the Middle School into a 20-plus-bed showroom filled with all sizes and styles. Name brands like Simmons Beautyrest, Restonic, Malouf, etc. are available for up to 50 percent off retail prices. Watch for area yard signs and for the few lucky kids who get to wear the “mattress suit” while promoting the sale to passersby.
