Juggling work and family is hectic, especially for new parents. Through a new grant for local families, the “Ready Rosie” program aims to make pre-school readiness easy with entertaining educational videos and activities for both children and parents.
Ready Rosie uses age-tailored videos to promote family interaction, problem-solving, and social, emotional, math, and motor skills in children, infants to third grade.
“The Ready Rosie program not only helps children grow, it also teaches their parents how to aid in childhood development using model moments and how to track their child’s progress,” explained Ashley Pence, DO, pediatrician at UPMC Susquehanna.
With their son Taj turning two this month and a new baby on the way, local residents Lara and Samuel Jaussi use Ready Rosie to create engaging, age-appropriate activities for Taj.
“It’s very easy to sign up, and the site itself is so user-friendly. The videos are short and to the point—we definitely recommend the program,” said Lara Jaussi.
The online program is free to residents of Lycoming County, made possible through the county’s Early Learning Team, including UPMC Susquehanna’s Nurse Family Partnership and family medicine providers, and funding by the county commissioners.
“These videos are especially helpful for families not using a formal daycare because it provides fun, easy ways to increase school readiness at home,” said Alison Farley, Nurse Family Partnership manager, UPMC Susquehanna.
