M. Jean Maust, 83

M. Jean Maust, 83, a resident of Muncy, PA, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 in the UPMC Susquehanna Skilled & Rehabilitation Center at Muncy.

Born July 6, 1934 at Binghamton, Broome Co., NY, she was a daughter of the late William B. and Madelyn (Gilley) Ring. She was the wife of James L. Maust with whom she celebrated a 43rd wedding anniversary on August 16, 2017.

Jean was a 1953 graduate of Muncy High School. She retired from the Deli department of Lantz’s Market at Muncy and had previously been the proprietor of the Opera House Restaurant.

She was a member of American Legion Post 268 Ladies Auxiliary, V.F.W. Post 3428 Ladies Auxiliary were she had served two terms as president and was a member and past president of District 15 of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. Jean was an avid reader, enjoyed flower gardening and her cats. For over 36 years she especially enjoyed the company of her pet parrot, Skippy.

In addition to her husband, Jean is survived by two sons, Danny R. Chirdon of Hughesville, PA; Vincent Chirdon and wife Linda Brady of Hughesville, PA, one step-daughter, Teri Maust-Simcox and husband David of Hughesville, PA, one step-son, Jeffrey Maust of Williamsport, PA and one brother, William and wife Margaret Ring of Pennsdale, PA. She is also survived by five grandchildren.
