B. Robert Rung (Bob), 88 of Barbours, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2026 at the Hillside Assisted Living, Montoursville.

Born in Loyalsockville on February 26, 1938, he was the son of the late Walter and Fanny Rung.

On May 13, 1961 Bob married Phyllis L. (Fox), together they shared 61 years of marriage until her passing on November 23, 2022

Bob graduated from Montoursville High School in 1956. He served in the Army National Guard. He was fire chief from 1967 to 1972 with the Plunketts Creek Fire Department, and past president of the Loyalsock Valley Antique Machinery Association. He loved hunting, fishing, driving his tractors and most of all spending time with his family.

He is survived by a son, Kevin (Dee) Rung, of Endicott, New York; a daughter, Karen (Jeff) Rine, of Barbours; four grandchildren, Kelly (Kenny) Smith, Josh (Elizabeth) Rine, Robert (Kenda) Rung, Travis (Alyssa) Rung; 11 great grandchildren; and a sister Lula Bryan, of Barbours.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a brother William Rung who passed away in 2017.

At the request of the family, services will be private and burial will take place in Barbours Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, Montoursville.
