That’s a Wrap

That’s a Wrap

It’s the 2nd week of Little League, and we’re getting deeper into the brackets every day.

That means we’re inching closer to a championship — and, with it, the end of summer.

And you can feel it already: the days are a little shorter, the nights are a little cooler, and the first days of school are creeping closer.

I can’t speak for you, but I am going to eke out every inch of summer that I can. Some people love the -ber months (Yes, I’m talking to you, Andrea), but I’m more of a dog days of summer girly.

The only part of the cooler weather I am looking forward to is that it will be easier to get Booker out for walks. He’s gotten a little chunky and could use the extra miles. I’ve become a big fan of taking him on a ‘sniff & stroll’ — he sniffs out the neighborhood animal gossip, and I enjoy a cup of coffee while we stroll around the neighborhood.

With only a few days left before school starts, what are you doing with your final days of August? Maybe a trip to Knoebels, or sneaking down the shore one last time?

I do still have back-to-school shopping to do, but I’m hoping to find a little fun in the last weekend before school starts too. And honestly, shopping for school supplies is kinda fun for me! I do love a new notebook and pens.

I’m also still catching games at Little League this week. I have the best seats in the house in the photo wells, and I’ve been lucky to get a few good shots so far. The games I’ve shot have been good, but mostly they have been pitching duals, so not a lot of action. Still, there’s a lot of baseball left to be played, so we’ll see what I can see this week. I’m not sure what the Little League equivalent of ‘It’s a long way to October’ is, but whatever it is — insert that here.

I absolutely love going to the games to take pictures. I don’t have the kind of equipment that most of the other photographers have, but I manage to hold my own, with that I have.

But I look forward to spending the day at the LL complex. Seeing all the people. All the kids. All the emotions. Seeing Dugout bringing kids together to just be silly and have a good time. It’s all a kind of magic you can’t find anywhere else in the world.

I suppose that’s a wrap on August. Before you know it, we will be preparing for our big Fall Home Improvement issue. That will be September 16th, by the way. It’s one of, if not our largest, issues of the year, so be sure to keep an eye out for that in a couple of weeks! And if you are one of our amazing advertisers, be sure to get in touch with your sales rep to run an ad that week in the Home Improvement section or in the regular paper. I always encourage everyone to run an ad that week, because it’s always such an amazing and well-read issue!

So, that’s about that for the week! Be sure to catch a Little League game, find some last days of summer fun, and enjoy the time when the days are warm and the nights are cool — the perfect time for a pool party and bonfire!
