George (M.F.) Albert Smith, Jr., 60, of Rimersburg passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, July 22, 2026.

Born December 20, 1965 in Blossburg, he grew up in Trout Run and graduated from Montoursville High School in 1983.

In 1983, he enlisted in the United States Army, earning the rank of Private First Class (PFC) before his discharge in 1987.

On April 20, 2024, he married Lisa Yearick, with whom he shared two wonderful years of marriage.

George was a logger by trade, owning and operating Smith Logging.  He could cut down any tree, landing it exactly where he said he would.

He was a proud member of the Beech Creek American Legion, Post 623, where he served as both the Adjutant and Home Association Director.  George spent a lot of time there and was always willing to volunteer his time.

George also served as the American Legion District 16 Sergeant of Arms, the Sons of the American Legion First Vice Commander and the Legion Riders’ Sergeant of Arms.

Additionally, he was a member of the Marine Corps League of Ralston and Red Run Hunting Camp.

George loved riding motorcycle and camping.  Not only will he be remembered for his heart of gold but also for how his world revolved around his grandson and great nephews.

In addition to his wife, Lisa Yearick of Rimersburg, he is survived by his mother, Norma Jean (Moon) Smith of Trout Run; a daughter, Nicole Marie Smith and her two children of Lock Haven; son, Tanner Yearick of Rimersburg; his grandson who was the apple-of-his-eye, Ryker Yearick; siblings: Steve, Wayne, Dominick, Brenda, Sue and Danielle Smith; and great nephews, Daniel and Ranger Smith.

George was preceded in death by his father, Danie Smith and grandparents, William and Shirley Moon.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026 from 12-4 PM with a service being held at 12:30 PM at the Beech Creek American Legion Post 623 Picnic Grounds, 68 Wynn Ave., Beech Creek, PA 16822.

Memorial contributions to help fellow Veterans may be made to the Beech Creek American Legion Post 623.
