A summer weekend in Montoursville brought together far more than youth soccer. Families, volunteers, local businesses, and nonprofit organizations united for the third annual Kicks 4 Canines, helping make the tournament’s largest year yet while supporting a meaningful community cause.
Hosted at McCall Middle School by UnitedGoals USA in partnership with the Montoursville Lady Warriors Soccer Program, this year’s event welcomed a record 66 teams, including 57 from Pennsylvania and nine from New York, for two days of 5v5 competition featuring boys and girls from U9 through U16.
The tournament supported The Safe Haus, which spent Saturday on-site, engaging with families and selling goods to support its mission.
“We’ve always believed youth sports can be about much more than what’s on the field,” said UnitedGoals USA founder Colin Gorini. “When you combine great competition with a cause the community believes in, everyone wins. Seeing so many families come together for this event is incredibly rewarding.”
The weekend showcased nearly every local youth soccer program alongside visiting clubs from across the region. Eleven divisions crowned champions, while hundreds of players competed in an atmosphere centered on sportsmanship, community, and fun.
Behind the scenes, dozens of volunteers from the Montoursville Lady Warriors Soccer Program dedicated countless hours to preparing the fields, maintaining the complex, operating concessions, and helping the tournament run smoothly.
Local businesses also played an important role in the event’s success. UnitedGoals USA recognized KVS Computers, RDF Tax Services LLC, Woodlands Bank, Mr. Chilaquil, Faddie’s Pizza & Ice Cream, Blaise Alexander Family Dealerships, and FastBridge Fiber for their support as community partners.
As participation continues to grow each year, Kicks 4 Canines has become more than just a tournament on the summer calendar. It has evolved into a community event that celebrates local soccer and creates opportunities to give back.
“This weekend wouldn’t happen without our volunteers, sponsors, officials, coaches, and the families who choose to spend their weekend with us,” Gorini said. “We’re thankful for everyone who continues to support this event and help us strengthen our soccer community.”
