Jerome “Jerry” James Fitzsimmons, Sr., age 89, of South Williamsport, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on July 7, 2026.

Jerry was the son of Kenneth and Genevieve (Baggot) Fitzsimmons and born in Hughesville, Pennsylvania on September 23, 1936. He attended Williamsport High School before proudly serving in the US Army (1955-1958), where he was stationed in Germany, and then serving in the Army Reserves and retiring as a Sergeant. After serving our county, he then worked hard for many years at Asplundh and then Brodart. He had a passion for antique shopping, going out to eat, and visiting with his family. Having been born during the Depression, he had immense pride in his home on Eckmont Avenue.

Jerry is survived by his sister, Eloise (Thomas) Snauffer; his four children: Christina (Todd) Raup, Jerome “JJ” (Dora) Fitzsimmons, Jr., Kenneth (Stacey) Fitzsimmons, and Angela Brown; his ten grandchildren; his three great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends.  He is pre-deceased by six of his siblings: Robert (Marie) Fitzsimmons, John “Jack” (Margaret) Fitzsimmons, Shirley (Clifford) Miller, Rose Marie (Robert) Roup, Lucille (Carl) Romano, and Theresa Jean (Clifford) Lukens; and his ex-wife, Evelyn Fitzsimmons.

A graveside service with military honors will be held Friday, July 24, 2026, at 11:00am at Montoursville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jerry’s honor to the Wounded Warrior Project or a veteran charity of yourchoice.
